CBCD34+ is a human umbilical cord blood-sourced progenitor cell platform composed of immunomagnetically fractionated CD34+ haematopoietic stem cell aggregates. CD34+ is a phosphoglycoprotein cell-surface marker that is known to characterise haematopoietic stem or progenitor cells residing in the bone marrow (and cord blood), and in maintaining them in an undifferentiated state. These stem cells are multipotent and have the potential to differentiate into all the various cell types of the human myeloid and lymphoid lineages. CBCD34+ cells are harvested from abundantly available cord blood by leukepheresis, and subsequently by immunomagnetic positive selection, and can be induced to differentiate into any of the said lineages using established/ proprietary procedures. They contain two main cellular subpopulations, haematopoietic and endothelial progenitor cells.
CBCD34+ cells are provided in customised cell numbers per vial, are ready-to-use and require no culturing process. Care is taken to ensure the safety of the donor and the integrity of collected cells, and all cell collection and handling procedures are compliant with government and Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) guidelines. Donors are tested for infection by HIV-1, HIV-2, HBV, HCV, Mycoplasma, Bacteria, Yeast and Fungi before collection. Cells are processed and checked for bioburden.
CBCD34+ cells are suitable for developing humanised mouse models for various infectious and non-infectious diseases. They are intended as an in vitro platform for screening of chemical libraries, hits, leads, and Investigational New Drug candidates (INDA’s) , known chemotherapeutic drugs (for human use) for efficacy and toxicity. They are also intended for exploratory preclinical studies in cancer immunotherapy, immunoregulation, transplant immunology, and HIV research, among others; HSCs lend themselves to measurements through a variety of assays, and the cellular, genetic, or proteomic readouts are predictive of human biology. CBCD34+ cells are also suitable for cytokine and chemokine production, and vaccine development.
