An in vitro human cord blood sourced mononuclear cell-based hMPS platform. A cord blood mononuclear cell (CB-MNC) is defined as any blood cell with a round nucleus, i.e. a lymphocyte, a monocyte, or a macrophage. These are comprised of T-cells (largely comprising CD4 and CD8 positive cells), B-cells, NK cells, dendritic cells, and monocytes, critical sentinel components of the immune system that surveil the human body for intruding pathogens and foreign bodies, and involved in both the humoral and cell-mediated immune response. These cells also secrete a large number of cytokines that are critical in the inflammatory response.

CB-MNC cells are extracted from umbilical cord blood using Leukapheresis, or the Ficoll-Hypaque density gradient centrifugation. They are provided in customised cell numbers per vial, are ready-to-use and require no culturing process. Care is taken to ensure the safety of the donor and the integrity of collected cells, and all cell collection and handling procedures are compliant with government and Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC). Donors are tested for infection by HIV-1, HIV-2, HBV, HCV, Mycoplasma, Bacteria, Yeast and Fungi before collection. Cells are processed and checked for bioburden.

CB-MNC are suitable for the development of humanised mouse models for various infectious and non-infectious diseases. They are also intended for other pre-clinical research.
